One of my favorite recipe is Japanese stewed food. Today I made a stew of lotus root and noodles made from taro's starch (蒟蒻). This is a simplified version of potato and meat stew (肉じゃが).I am summarizing the recipe to share with those who are interested
Material for the simple version
1) 1 pack Taro's starch noodles
2) 100g Lotus root
3) 4 tablespoons soya sauce
4) 1 tablespoons Chinese vinegar
5) 2 tablespoons sesame oil
6) 1 tablespoon white sesame
7) 100g Carrot sliced thinly (alternative)
8) 100g Minced pork
9) One red pepper cut in slices
Wash the noodles with clean water and cut them shorter . Put the noodles aside for cooking later. Saturate the minced pork with soya sauce (2 spoons) and Chinese vinegar (1 spoon) leave it for 3 minutes
Cut the lotus root and carrot to thin slices. Saute the lotus root and carrot slices with olive oil and red pepper for 3 minutes. Add on 30 ml of water and 2 spoons of soya sauce.Leave it cooked for another 3-5 minutes. Put in the brined minced pork, stir and stew until the meat is done. Finnally add on the noodles and and stir quickly. Leave it steamed for another 3 minutes and then turn off the fire. Before moving to the dish, sprinkle some sesame oil and mix to make the dish smell even better.
